An easy cookie and cream slime recipe made with edible marshmallow slime and pieces of your favorite Oreo cookies! A 100% edible slime recipe with black and white colors, stretchy, sticky texture that kids love!
Cookies and cream slime is a fun sensory play activity for kids. Kids love its stretchy, sticky texture and its lovely sweet smell from marshmallows and cookie crumbs. It’s also fun to play with as you feel the pieces of cookies bursting out into the slime. It’s a great slime for pretend-to-play cooking activities with kids.
How to make Cookies and cream slime?
First, gather all the ingredients you need to make my edible marshmallow slime recipe here. You will need:
- White marshmallow
- Corn starch or icing sugar
- Oil – vegetable oil or coconut oil
Next, place the marshmallow into a large mixing bowl and microwave for 30 seconds. The marshmallow puffs up a lot so make sure you use a tall bowl. Next, carefully remove the bowl from the microwave using gloves not to burn yourself.
Finally, stir in oil and cornstarch, again follow my recipe here for detailed measurement and instructions.
Add the cookie crumble
Now that the slime is stretchy and ready add pieces of Oreo cookies in the slime. You can add as much as you want. The more you add, the darker the slime will be. I usually add only 5-6 mini Oreos crunched in pieces for one batch of Marshmallow slime.
How to play with cookies and cream slime?
Kids love to play pretend cooking games, and this cookies and cream slime is perfect for it! Give wooden spoons, bowls, and sprinkles to kids, and they will play for a while pretending they make ice creams.
How can I store my cookies and cream slime?
Unfortunately, marshmallow slime doesn’t store well and even less when filled with cookie crumbs. It hardens very quickly, and you can’t make it last more than one hour.
However, if you prefer a slime recipe that lasts longer, use a glue slime recipe as a base like a butter slime recipe. Next, add the cookie crumb in it and play.
In fact, glue based slime recipe last up to 1 week in an airtight container but they are also more expensive to make and not edible – not safe to bring to the mouth.
What to do if my slime sticks to surfaces?
This is pure sugar slime, so the good news is, you can clean this slime easily with warm water. If it sticks on your clothes or hair, wash with lukewarm water before cleaning the clothes in the washing machine.
The slime dissolves instantly under hot water, only leaving sugar onto the surface. Next clean the clothes as usual or your hair, hands with shampoo or soap to remove sugar and starch.
How to soften cookies and cream slime?
This is a marshmallow-based slime, so it means it’s hardening with time. This is chemistry, and there is nothing you can do about it. Melted marshmallow harden as it cools down and gets in contact with air.
But there is a way to make it softer and play longer with it! Bring the slime back to a microwave-safe bowl and microwave by 10-second bursts, mixing with a wooden spoon between.
Your cookie and slime will get softer and stretcher after it gets warm. You may have to add more corn starch if it gets too sticky, and of course, the cookies could melt. It means that the slime color can turn grey with time.
Can I eat a batch of cookies and cream slime?
No, no, and no! I insist edible doesn’t mean it’s food to eat in large amounts or as a snack. Edible slime means it’s ok if it comes into contact with your kid’s mouth, but it doesn’t mean they should eat the entire batch or even large pieces.
This slime contains cornstarch, this is not a safe ingredient to eat raw in large amount. Plus, this is a high-sugar slime so keep it fun, play but don’t eat it!
